24/7 plumber — around the clock, every day

Plumbing failures don't wait for business hours. Our line is answered by a person 24 hours a day, including holidays.

Free to call. We route you to an independent licensed plumber in your area — PlumbLinker does not perform plumbing work.

What “24/7” means — and what it doesn't

A lot of plumbing companies advertise 24/7 service. In practice that phrase covers three quite different things, and knowing which one you've reached saves you a lot of time:

What you getWhat it actually means
A 24/7 answering serviceSomeone takes a message. A plumber calls back — possibly in the morning. Most common.
A 24/7 on-call rotationOne technician covers the whole region overnight. Real, but capacity is one truck.
A 24/7 dispatch networkMultiple companies on call across an area. Highest chance someone is genuinely free.

PlumbLinker is the third kind. We're not one company with one truck — we route across multiple independent plumbing companies, so if the first is already on a job we move to the next one.

Being straight about capacity

Even a dispatch network has limits. At 3am in a thinly-covered rural area, or during a regional freeze when every plumber in three counties is already working, availability can be zero. We'll tell you that on the call rather than taking your details and leaving you waiting for a callback that isn't coming.

What after-hours service costs

The premium is real and worth understanding before you decide to call tonight instead of tomorrow.

TimeTypical rateNotes
Weekday, 8am–5pmStandardAlways the cheapest option.
Weekday evening1.5× standardCommon cutoff is 5pm or 6pm.
Overnight1.5×–2×Some companies also add a flat emergency call-out fee on top.
Weekend1.5×–2×Sunday often costs more than Saturday.
Major holiday2× or moreThanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's are the most expensive calls of the year.

These are typical industry patterns, not PlumbLinker rates. Each plumbing company sets its own pricing and will quote you directly.

When paying the premium is clearly worth it

  • Water is moving and you cannot stop it at a shutoff valve.
  • Sewage is coming up inside the home.
  • Water is near an electrical panel, furnace, or outlets.
  • It's below freezing and you have no water at all — pipes may already be frozen and about to split.
  • The home has one bathroom and it's unusable.
  • You're in a multi-unit building and the leak is reaching other units — delay multiplies your liability.

When it usually isn't

  • You've closed a shutoff valve and the leak has stopped.
  • One of several drains is slow but nothing is backing up.
  • There's no hot water, but no leak — uncomfortable, not damaging.
  • A fixture drips. It'll drip until 8am for a fraction of the price.
The deciding question

Is the damage still increasing right now? If yes, call. If you've stabilized it and nothing is getting worse, morning is the cheaper and equally effective choice.

Frequently asked questions

Are plumbers really available 24 hours a day?

In most metro areas, yes — companies run on-call rotations overnight. In rural areas overnight coverage is genuinely limited, and during regional freeze events even large metros run out of capacity. Coverage is real but it isn't unlimited.

How much does a 24 hour plumber charge?

Expect roughly 1.5× to 2× standard rates outside business hours, often with a separate emergency call-out fee of $100–$350. Holidays run higher. Get the call-out fee confirmed on the phone before anyone is dispatched.

Do you charge extra for calling at night?

We charge you nothing at any hour — (888) 876-3092 is free to call. The plumber's after-hours rate is set by their company and quoted to you directly.

Is anyone available on Christmas or Thanksgiving?

Usually yes. Holiday coverage is thinner and costs more, but plumbing companies do run holiday on-call rotations — holidays are among the busiest days of the year for kitchen drain and disposal emergencies.
